Engineering Innovation

This program builds on the existing strength of the Balsells-Generalitat Fellowship program at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering (HSSoE) at UC Irvine.  The  California-Catalonia Engineering Innovation Program will sponsor research partnerships between academia and industry involving both California and Catalonia.  The research should explore new approaches to support and sustain innovations in the translation of research into results that benefit both California and Catalonia.  The long term goal of the program is to stimulate the transformation of knowledge created at the academic level into innovations that create new wealth and build strong local, regional and inter-related national economies.  Proposals should be submitted by members of the academic senate eligible for Principal Investigator status and with appointments in the HSSoE.

Eligibility

Furthermore, the proposing team should at least include, in addition to the HSSoE PI, an engineering faculty member from a Catalan University or research Institute, an Industrial partner and a Catalan student and or post-doctoral fellow. The industrial partner may be based in the U. S. or in Catalonia and may include non-profit institutions, private sector firms and trade and professional associations. Consult the Balsells engineering program for more details on eligibility or contact Professor Roger Rangel, Director, California-Catalonia Engineering Programs:  rhrangel@uci.edu
